ESSAYS IN IDLENESS

HOLIDAY IN DECEMBER

That was great.

I watched the movie "Happy Hour"(Japanese Film) at Portland Museum.
It was nonsense to watch Japanese film in America, but I coudn't watch it in Japan.  It couldn't be helped.

There were around 30 people who really loved movies, I think.
I didn't know where they could know about this movie.
(Because this movie is not major even in Japan )

After the introduction, the movie started.
The story was cool, steady, unflashy and how long was 6 hours straight!
It might be boring for almost people, but it was really interesting and precious for me.
I couldn't take my eyes as if it had been magic.

Some audience asked me "How was that movie?" because they thought I'm Japanese.
I could responce only 'Oh...I think it was so great.'
I really wanted to say more about it, how it was special, what point was the great, but I couldn't.
What the Bitter faces of them...I'll never forget this embarass experience, absolutely.

On the way back, the heavy snow that went down yesterday melts and drips down from the trees like rain.
Many branches couldn't resist the weight of the snow, and they were lying on the sidewalks.
There were some big branch that was 30 centimeters in diameter broken from the root of it.
I was sad a bit.

A Christmas tree sales office was in the parking lot.
A couple of parents was choosing the trees carefully.
I also saw many cars running that tied up a Christmas tree on their ceiling.
I'm sure that the feelings of parents to surprise their child will not change in any country.
However, Christmas in America seems to be prepared for children and it is lovely, than Japan.
